reStAGEactivist art/disruptive technologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this article, I explore, with you, artists’ socio-political disruptions with communication technologies to inspire political action and social change, and how such art can be environmentally and socially useful. How does art function politically? What

Sprayable Polymer Blends With Short‐Chain Surface Segregation for Preventing Postoperative Abdominal Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Adhesions’ high occurrence rates and high morbidity render them a critical challenge to be addressed. Current prevention methods, such as physical barriers, have many limitations, resulting in inconsistent safety and efficacy. This study demonstrates the potential for sprayable polymeric materials as an adhesion barrier.

The neural impact of editing on viewer narrative cognition in virtual reality films: eye-tracking insights into neural mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
IntroductionThe development of virtual reality (VR) films requires novel editing strategies to optimize narrative cognition in immersive environments. While traditional film editing guides attention through controlled sequences of shots, the interactive ...

Visuality and the haptic qualities of the line in generative art [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The line has an important and particular relationship with the generative artwork distinct from other elements such as the ‘pixel’, ‘voxel’ or the ‘points’ that make up point clouds.

Real‐Time 3D Ultrasound Imaging with an Ultra‐Sparse, Low Power Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel, ultra‐sparse ultrasound architecture that paves the way for wearable real‐time 3D imaging. By integrating a unique convolutional array with chirped data acquisition, the system achieves high‐resolution volumetric scans at a fraction of the power and hardware complexity.

Enhanced Endoscopic Internal Drainage of Gastric Abscess Through Additively Manufactured Stents

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Postoperative gastric leaks are often treated with off‐label biliary double‐pigtail stents, yet conventional extruded designs are not optimized for leak anatomy, can migrate, and may limit abscess evacuation. PETALS is introduced to optimize transmural drainage geometry and enable patient‐specific 3D‐printable stents.

Oxygen Supply of Islets of Langerhans by Photosynthetically Active Microalgae in Bioprinted Co‐Cultures Maintains Their Function in a Hypoxic Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed a bioprinted co‐culture system embedding rat pancreatic islets and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae spatially defined in close vicinity. Red light was found optimal to ensure microalgal photosynthesis while maintaining islet viability and functionality. A tailored co‐culture medium supported both cell types.

Two Material Properties from One Wavelength‐Orthogonal Photoresin Enabled by a Monochromatic Laser Integrated Stereolithographic Apparatus (Mono LISA)

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
A single object with dual properties – degradable and non‐degradable – is fabricated in a single print simply by switching the printing colors. The advanced multi‐material printing is enabled by the combination of a fully wavelength‐orthogonal photoresin and a monochromatic tunable laser printer, paving the way for precise multi‐material ...
