Retinal Artery Pressure and Cerebral Artery Perfusion Pressure in Cerebrovascular Occlusive Disease
Neurosurgery, 1986Abstract The objectives of the investigation were to measure the retinal artery pressure (RAP) and cortical artery pressure (CAP) in patients undergoing superficial temporal artery to middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) bypass, to study the relationship between these pressures, and to evaluate our ability to predict CAP on the basis of RAP.

An Unusual Arterial Pressure Waveform
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, 201137-YEAR-OLD man presented with the complaint of episodes of paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea. On the routine physical examination, the radial artery pulse was hyperdynamic, regular (88 beats/min), and the blood pressure was 180/50 mmHg. The chest was hyperdynamic with a diastolic decrescendo murmur in the second right intercostal space.

Optimal arterial blood pressure
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1991Based on the principle of minimum power, a mathematical model of the functional state of the circulatory system is presented. The optimization model minimizes the power expenditure of the heart, bone marrow and the power expended in carrying blood.

Arterial Compliance and Blood Pressure
Drugs, 1993As a result of the dual function of arteries, the conduit and cushioning functions, arterial pressure has 2 components: the steady component, characterised by mean blood pressure, and the pulsatile component, characterised by pulse pressure. Arterial compliance mostly depends on arterial intrinsic elastic properties, and is a determinant of the ...

Pressure Rise at Arterial Bifurcations
Angiology, 1984The increase in cross-sectional area within an arterial bifurcation is shown to be much larger than that predicted by the conventional area ratio β. Modified area ratios which better describe this increase are presented and their values are assessed both from theoretical considerations and from physiological data.

Noninvasive assessment of arterial pressure
Current Opinion in Critical Care, 2008To briefly review recent advances in the noninvasive assessment of arterial pressure (indirect methods) in the field of critical care.Automated oscillometric measurements underestimate intraarterial systolic blood pressure. Digital photoplethysmography has led to conflicting results, although the obtained respiratory pulse pressure variation correlates

Pressure studies in arterial surgery
European Journal of Vascular Surgery, 1987Symptomatic intermittent claudication and ischaemic rest pain result from a failure of the arterial system to deliver a sufficient volume of blood at a pressure high enough to satisfy the demands of the peripheral tissues. Experimental studies have shown that an artery can be constricted to a point where its luminal diameter is reduced by approximately
