Resident phenotypically modulated vascular smooth muscle cells in healthy human arteries. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Vascular interstitial cells (VICs) are non-contractile cells with filopodia previously described in healthy blood vessels of rodents and their function remains unknown.

ANÁLISE DA SEGMENTAÇÃO ANATOMO-CIRÚRGICA ARTERIAL DO CÓLON DE COELHOS

open access: yesCiência Animal Brasileira, 2014
The morphology and physiology of body systems is crucial to the applied areas of veterinary medicine. The description of the vessels, nerves and ducts distribution of an organ subdivided into anatomical and surgical segments are necessary for clinical ...

Physical Activity, Sedentary Behavior and Sleep Time: Association with Cardiovascular Hemodynamic Parameters, Blood Pressure and Structural and Functional Arterial Properties in Childhood

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease, 2021
An association between movement behavior (MB) components (sleep time (ST), physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB)) and the state of the cardiovascular (CV) system in children has been postulated.

Iron‐dependent lysosomal LDL oxidation induces the expression of scavenger receptor A in human THP‐1 monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In human monocytic cells THP‐1, a limited uptake of native—not oxidized—LDL/VLDL induced expression of scavenger receptor A and cellular adhesion. Induction was inhibited by lysosomotropic (WR‐1065) and lipophilic (BHT) antioxidants and by siRNAs against ferritinophagy.

Numerical simulation of blood flow and pressure drop in the pulmonary arterial and venous circulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A novel multiscale mathematical and computational model of the pulmonary circulation is presented and used to analyse both arterial and venous pressure and flow. This work is a major advance over previous studies by Olufsen et al. (Ann Biomed Eng 28:1281–

Pulmonary vasoconstrictor action of KCNQ potassium channel blockers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
KCNQ channels have been widely studied in the nervous system, heart and inner ear, where they have important physiological functions. Recent reports indicate that KCNQ channels may also be expressed in portal vein where they are suggested to influence ...

Perioperative use of transthoracic echocardiography in a patient with congenitally corrected transposition of great arteries, atrial septal defect and severe pulmonary stenosis for lower segment cesarean section

open access: yesJournal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology, 2017
A 25-year-old female with congenitally corrected transposition of great arteries (CCTGAs), atrial septal defect, and severe pulmonary stenosis underwent lower segment cesarean section at 34 weeks of gestation using combined spinal epidural anesthesia ...

The role of vascular complexity on optimal junction exponents [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We examine the role of complexity on arterial tree structures, determining globally optimal vessel arrangements using the Simulated AnneaLing Vascular Optimization (SALVO) algorithm, which we have previously used to reproduce features of cardiac and cerebral vasculatures.

Wave intensity analysis: A novel non-invasive method for determining arterial wave transmission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Wave intensity analysis is a novel technique for assessing wavelet transmission in the cardiovascular system. Using this tool, we have developed non-invasive techniques to study wave transmission in both central & peripheral arteries in man.

Diagnostic accuracy of Doppler ultrasound technique of the penile arteries in correlation to selective arteriography [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
In 63% of 265 patients with erectile dysfunction a relevant arterial inflow disturbance was found by Doppler ultrasound examination. Correlation between Doppler and arteriography in 58 patients showed an accuracy of 95% in detecting penile arteries and ...
