A. facialis in ground squirrel (Citellus itellus) [PDF]
A ground squirrel is a hibernator, which hibernation lasts, depending on the age and sex, since the end of the summer until the spring. During this period in the body of ground squirrel, as well as in other hibernators, starts lowering of all ...

Localization of lipopolysaccharide from Escherichia Coli into human atherosclerotic plaque [PDF]
Experimental studies showed that gut-derived lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is pro-atherogenic, however, its relationship with human atherosclerosis is still to be defined.

Multiscale Mechanical Behavior of Large Arteries [PDF]
The mechanical integrity of arteries is of prime importance, for a proper oxygen and nutrients delivery to all organs. To optimize their mechanical properties, healthy arteries exhibit a complex hierarchical microstructure which ensures a sufficient compliance at low stresses and which stiffens at higher stresses, preventing over-dilatation.

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

The Acute Responses of Different-sized Coronary Arteries to Testosterone [PDF]
Coronary arteries supply blood to the myocardium. The blood flow within the coronary arteries is altered by various compounds produced within the body. Sex hormones such as testosterone are known to cause the relaxation of large coronary arteries.

Detection and localization of Coronary Arterial Lesion with the Aid of Impedance Cardiography [PDF]
In recent years, coronary artery disease is escalating and is likely to assume an epidemic proportion by 2030. Currently the reliable methods for detection of coronary arterial lesions are either conventional coronary angiogram (CAG) or MDCT (Multiple Detector Computed Tomography) coronary angiogram.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Chlamydia pneumoniae in atherosclerotic middle cerebral artery [PDF]
Background and Purpose—Atherosclerotic middle cerebral arteries are frequent sites of thrombosis, leading to stroke. Previous studies have suggested a role for Chlamydia pneumoniae in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.
