Arterial Stiffness in Hypertension and Function of Large Arteries [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hypertension, 2020
Abstract BACKGROUND Arterial stiffness—typically assessed from non-invasive measurement of pulse wave velocity along a straight portion of the vascular tree between the right common carotid and femoral arteries—is a reliable predictor of cardiovascular risk in patients with essential hypertension.

Infection Control Practices for Vascular Access Management in Hemodialysis: Results From a Nationwide Survey of Japanese National University Hospitals

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Bloodstream infections due to repeated vascular access (VA) puncture and circuit connections remain major concerns in hemodialysis. Therefore, we examined current practices for glove, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use according to VA type in national university hospitals in Japan.

Patrolling Mechanics of Non-Classical Monocytes in Vascular Inflammation

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2017
Non-classical monocytes have emerged as the preeminent vascular housekeepers. Continuous intravascular screening is enabled by slow patrolling on the endothelium and allows a rapid response to local perturbations.

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Triptans and CGRP blockade - impact on the cranial vasculature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The trigeminovascular system plays a key role in the pathophysiology of migraine. The activation of the trigeminovascular system causes release of various neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, including serotonin and calcitonin gene-related peptide ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Current Strategy in Endovascular Management for Below-the-Knee Arterial Lesions

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2021
The below-the-knee arterial tree is the thinnest of all the leg vessels and is an important path for blood flow to the foot. Hence, lesions including stenosis, especially obstruction, may lead to critical limb ischemia which represents the most severe ...
