Primitive trigeminal artery associated with aterovenous malformation of cerebellum [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2011
Introduction. Persistence of fetal cerebral carotid basilar anastomoses is rare. When it occurs, it is often associated with other vascular malformations, and other pathological conditions.

Congenital pulmonary arteriovenous malformation: a rare cause of cyanosis in childhood [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is a rare condition in which there is abnormal connection between pulmonary arteries and veins. The disorder usually appears in late childhood or early adult life, with dyspnea on exertion, clubbing or cyanosis.

Elastomeric Micro‐Balloons for Remote Control of Cerebral Blood Flow and Real‐Time In vivo Imaging of Rodent Brain Response to Hypoperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of MRI‐compatible elastomeric micro‐balloons via a multi‐step bubble casting process, where the monolithic elastomeric wall is selectively stiffened for reversible and controlled inflation and elasticity, depending on the target vessels for graded occlusion of cerebral arteries.

Ruptured arteriovenous malformation secondary to placental site trophoblastic tumor: A diagnostic dilemma and its successful management

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2018
Placental site trophoblastic tumor is a very rare neoplasm and is a subtype of gestational trophoblastic neoplasm. Owing to its rarity and varied clinical manifestations, it can lead to a diagnostic dilemma.

Engineered Microfluidic Organoid Systems: New Paradigms for Menopause Mechanism Research and Personalized Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review explores the integration of microfluidic technology with organoid systems as an innovative platform for studying menopausea complex multi‐organ condition. By enabling precise simulation of inter‐organ communication and hormone responses, microfluidic organoids offer a physiologically relevant model for investigating menopausal syndrome and ...

Volumetric analysis of arteriovenous malformation using computed tomographic angiography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Thesis (M.A.)--Boston UniversityAn arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal collection of blood vessels in which arterial blood flows directly into the draining vein without the normal interposed capillaries.

3D‐Nanoprinted Fluidically Steerable Soft Robotic Microcatheters

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work introduces a ∼3‐French (1 mm‐in‐diameter) soft robotic microcatheter fabricated by means of two‐photon direct laser writing. The 3D‐printed microcatheter enables remote, on‐demand steering via microfluidic actuation for guidewire‐free navigation of vascular networks as well as microcatheter‐mediated delivery of fluidic payloads to target ...
