Arterial grafts for coronary artery surgery
Cardiovascular Surgery, 1995Fifty specimens of left internal mammary artery, right gastroepiploic artery and right inferior epigastric artery were examined for length, diameter and frequency of atherosclerotic changes. Mean usable length was 132.4 mm for internal mammary arteries, 127.9 mm for gastroepiploic arteries and 128.4 mm for inferior epigastric arteries.

Arterial stiffness and coronary artery disease
Current Opinion in Cardiology, 2015The current traditional risk scores are not sufficient to predict the full incidence of cardiovascular disease. In this brief review, we discuss the pathophysiological mechanisms through which arterial stiffness affects cardiac function and the additive value of markers of arterial stiffness, to detect the presence of coronary artery disease (CAD) and ...

European Radiology, 1998
Coronary angiography (CA) is presently considered the gold standard for the assessment of the coronary arteries. However, the presence of ionizing radiation, its invasiveness and the small associated risk of morbidity prompted long ago the development of more patient-friendly imaging modalities.

Artery-to-artery anastomosis in monochorionic twins
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1994We describe Doppler signals in artery-to-artery anastomoses of two monochorionic twin pregnancies. Flow velocity waveforms demonstrated cyclic changes in systolic velocities with intermittent reversal of end-diastolic velocities. A computer model showed that this was the result of two opposing pulsatile blood flow waveforms with different velocities ...

Arterial reconstruction for radial artery occlusion
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2000This study was designed to detail the history and symptoms of symptomatic radial artery vaso-occlusive disease and to evaluate the results of radial artery reconstruction. Thirteen patients with symptomatic vaso-occlusive disease of the radial artery unresponsive to management by nonoperative modalities were managed with arterial reconstruction.

Coronary arteries in transposition of the great arteries
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1994The topic of coronary arteries in transposition of the great arteries (TGA) is complex and confusing despite having been the subject of several recently published reports. One hundred thirty-three autopsy specimens of uncomplicated TGA were studied, with special attention to methodologic issues in anatomic description and classification.

Cilioretinal Arteries and Retinal Arterial Occlusion
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1979A series of 187 cases of retinal artery occlusion was reviewed. 107 of which were central retinal artery occlusions (CRAO). Of the 107 cases, 28 (26%) showed some degree of macular sparing owing to a patent cilioretinalartery. The patients with cilioretinal sparing regained variable degrees of visual acuity, depending on the amount of the ...

Experimental arterial loops and arterial atrophy
Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 1986U-shaped arterial loops fashioned in the common carotid artery of rabbits and sheep were studied to determine the chronic effects of the altered blood flow, and results were consistent. Intimal thickening, predominantly of musculoelastic proliferation, was present at the distal aspect of the lesser curvatures of the bends where boundary layer ...

Coronary artery to pulmonary artery fistulas
American Heart Journal, 1978Twelve patients with a total of 14 coronary artery to pulmonary artery fistulas were discovered at the time of diagnostic coronary angiography. Six patients had severe coronary artery disease, five patients had normal coronary arteriography, one patient had insignificant coronary artery disease, and one patient had rheumatic heart disease.
