Evaluating Shivering and Hypothermia After Removing Forced‐Air Heating From Short‐Duration Surgery

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Single‐use forced‐air heating blankets can prevent intraoperative hypothermia, but their use carries environmental and economic costs. Whether omitting heating blankets for short‐duration surgical procedures affects patient outcomes remains unclear.

Perilunate Dislocations With Median Nerve Involvement: Importance of Early Diagnosis and Surgical Intervention‐A Case Series

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Perilunate dislocation in the wrist is a rare injury yet challenging and is missed in 25% of cases on initial presentation. We present two cases of carpal injury. First case is a delayed presentation of perilunate dislocation with median nerve compression and ipsilateral fracture of shaft of radius.

Changes in radiocarpal and intercarpal arthrodesis incidence in Sweden: A 16-year retrospective analysis of 5 189 surgeries.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Radiocarpal and intercarpal arthrodesis are common procedures for managing advanced arthritis, post-traumatic conditions, and failed interventions. This observational study analysed 5,189 cases of arthrodesis registered in the Swedish National Patient ...

Frontiers in the Management of Orthopaedic Periprosthetic Joint Infection

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a devastating complication of total joint arthroplasty (TJA), one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures worldwide. Management of acute PJI commonly involves debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention (DAIR), though failure rates remain high due to antibiotic‐tolerant biofilms. Chronic

Effective Doses of Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 in Experimental Spinal Fusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Study Design Nineteen dogs underwent L4-L5 intertransverse process fusions with either 58 μg, 115 μg, 230 μg, 460 μg, or 920 μg of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 carried by a polylactic acid polymer.

Percutaneous arthrodesis [PDF]

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 2003
It has been generally accepted that residual cartilage and subchondral bone has to be removed in order to get bony fusion in arthrodeses. In 1998 we reported successful fusion of 11 rheumatoid ankles, all treated with percutaneous fixation only. In at least one of these ankle joint there was cartilage left.

Outcomes After Total Ankle Replacement in Association With Ipsilateral Hindfoot Arthrodesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: Ipsilateral hindfoot arthrodesis in combination with total ankle replacement (TAR) may diminish functional outcome and prosthesis survivorship compared to isolated TAR.

A CT-Validated Comparative Analysis of Fixation Constructs for Hindfoot Arthrodesis: Fusion and Complication Rates

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Orthopaedics
Background: Hindfoot arthrodesis is a procedure commonly performed to address degenerative changes and/or malalignment of the hindfoot, yet robust literature comparing traditional and modern constructs is sparse.
