CONVERSION OF RESECTION ARTHROPLASTY TO TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT

Orthopedics, 1994
Conversion of Girdlestone arthroplasty is a demanding procedure dependent on adequate debridement at time of resection and appropriate long-term antibiotic therapy. Patients must be followed closely for persistent sepsis through ESR, aspiration, and physical examination. Pre-reconstruction, existing bone stock should be assessed and revision techniques

Radiology of failed surface-replacement total-hip arthroplasty

American Journal of Roentgenology, 1982
The radiographs, arthrograms, and bone scans in 23 patients with surgically confirmed failed total-surface hip replacement were reviewed. Guidelines for evaluation of the acetabular component are identical to those for conventional total arthroplasty.

COMPUTATIONAL STRESS ANALYSIS OF CUP REPLACEMENT HIP ARTHROPLASTY

ASAIO Journal, 1979
A two-dimensional finite element model of a total surface replacement hip arthroplasty was utilized to study the performance characteristics of the prosthesis by means of stress analysis. No significant changes occur in stress field distribution following resurfacing arthroplasty in the proximal femur.

Limited Approach Surface Replacement Total Hip Arthroplasty

Operative Techniques in Orthopaedics, 2006
With the advent of new metallurgical manufacturing techniques, metal-on-metal total hip resurfacing has gained popularity as a bone-preserving procedure for young and active patients. The use of minimally invasive techniques for total hip arthroplasty has generated much interest.

Conservative Total Hip Replacement: A Comparison of Wagner Resurfacing Arthroplasty and Total Articular Replacement Arthroplasty

Orthopedics, 1982
A comparative study of the Wagner resurfacing arthroplasty and Total Articular Replacement Arthroplasty (T.A.R.A.) has been reviewed in 98 patients. The Wagner procedure failed at a significantly greater rate than the T.A.R.A. procedure (24% to 0, respectively). Failure in the Wagner series centered around acetabular and femoral component loosening, as

The Indiana conservative (surface-replacement) hip arthroplasty.

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1984
We reviewed the clinical results of the Indiana conservative hip arthroplasty in 116 hips with a two to seven-year follow-up. There were seventeen failures (14.6 per cent). The rate of non-traumatic loosening was 10 per cent and the failure rate for patients with inflammatory arthritis was 33 per cent.

Dislocations After Total Hip-Replacement Arthroplasties

2013
In a series of 300 total hip replacements, nine (3 per cent) dislocated. Precise measurements of the orientation of the acetabular cup were made and it was found that anterior dislocations were associated with increased acetabular-component anteversion. There was no significant correlation between cup-orientation angle and posterior dislocation.

Surface replacement arthroplasty of the hip.

Bulletin of the NYU hospital for joint diseases, 2009
Treatment of the young patient with degenerative disease of the hip has historically been a difficult problem for the orthopaedist. Total hip arthroplasty in the young patient has generally produced inferior results as compared to older patients. Surface replacement arthroplasty (SRA) was initially developed over 50 years ago to treat degenerative ...

ARTHROPLASTY OF THE HIP

The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1954
All the cup and replacement arthroplasties of the hip at the Middlesex Hospital performed two or more years ago—110 cases—have been reviewed. Cup arthroplasty was the more successful.
