시멘트 인공 고관절 전치환술은 1960년대부터 처음 사 용 되기 시작하였으나 1990년대까지는 시멘트 고정의 실 패로 인한 주위의 골 용해가 인공 고관절의 실패의 원인으 로 생각되어 무시멘트형의 인공 관절이 많이 개발되었다. 하지만 그 후 폴리에틸렌 마모 편으로 인하여 골 용해가 발생한다는 것이 밝혀지고 무시멘트형의 인공 고관절 치 환술 후 골 용해가 더 심하게 발생하고 시멘트 기법 및 인 공 관절의 재질, 디자인 등의 개선으로 인하여 최근에 시 멘트형의 대퇴 주대의 사용이 빈번해 지기 시작하였다. 또한 국내에는 비구측에 시멘트를 사용한 폴리에틸렌 컵 의 사용이 거의 없으나 최근 재치환술을 요하는 환자가 많 아지고 골 다공증이
