Prognostic Factors for Postoperative Complications. An Aggregate Protocol for 10 Observational Studies From the Danish TRIPLE‐A Cohort of 1.2 Million Surgeries

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 7, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Postoperative complications substantially increase morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs. Understanding prognostic factors is essential for risk stratification, targeted prevention strategies, and development of prediction models.

Haemostatic changes and bleeding with anti‐IL‐6 directed therapy in autoimmune diseases

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 15, Page 4111-4125, August 2026.
Abstract Anti‐IL‐6 directed therapy, especially tocilizumab (TCZ), is widely used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, giant cell arteritis and systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Next to being a master regulator of inflammation, IL‐6 also is an important regulator of haemostasis. Although generally well tolerated,

Modification to the PICO Single Use Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System Application to Improve Patient Experience in Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 23, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT PICO single use negative pressure wound therapy (sNPWT) is increasinsingly being used in high‐risk wounds across many surgical specialities. Their use in orthopaedic arthroplasty surgery is associated with practical challenges limiting mobilisation including tube disconnection and pullouts.

Multimodal Deep Learning for Predicting Deep Vein Thrombosis Risk After Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Clinical Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 8, Page 1574-1580, August 2026.
Implementing a dual‐branch architecture where ViT‐B/16 or ResNet50 processed standardized radiographs (metal artifact suppression, 512 × 512 resolution) while Clinical‐BERT encoded structured electronic records. A novel dynamic attention mechanism generated sample‐specific weights (α) for feature fusion (α·v_img + (1‐α)·v_txt), with performance ...

Three‐Dimensional Estimation of the Femoral Head Center From Trochanteric Landmarks in Japanese Female Patients With Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 8, Page 1660-1667, August 2026.
The accuracy of the trochanter‐based three‐dimensional method enables clinically acceptable estimation of the femoral head center (FC) even in patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip and may serve as a useful adjunct for planning of total hip arthroplasty when the native FC is difficult to identify.
