Posterior Lumbar Facet Replacement and Arthroplasty

Neurosurgery Clinics of North America, 2021
There is an ongoing desire for the development of motion-preserving facet replacement devices as an alternative to rigid fixation in hopes of better preserving the natural kinematics of the lumbar spine. Theoretically, such a construct would simultaneously address pain associated with spinal instability and prevent abnormal load distribution and ...

Resection arthroplasty following infected total hip replacement arthroplasty

The Journal of Arthroplasty, 1986
Thirty-nine patients with 41 hips with resection arthroplasty for infected total hip replacement arthroplasty were evaluated for functional level and factors that contribute to that level. Eighty-three percent were either minimal community ambulators or nonambulators, and only two patients walked without assistive devices. At last follow-up, 93% of the

Total Articular Replacement Arthroplasty

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1984
Sixty-four total articular replacement arthroplasties were performed in 60 patients with an average follow-up period of 24 months. Ninety-three percent of the patients had little or no pain at the time of follow-up examination; 83% of the patients were able to walk unlimited distances; 97% of the patients had a postoperative flexion range of 90 degrees

GLENOID REPLACEMENT IN TOTAL SHOULDER ARTHROPLASTY

Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1998
The outcome of total shoulder arthroplasty is largely based on the quality of glenoid component fixation, which, in turn, is related to the amount and quality of bone stock, glenohumeral stability, and rotator cuff function. This article discusses the anatomic and pathologic indications for glenoid replacement, surgical techniques, and results.

Silicone Rubber Distal Ulnar Replacement Arthroplasty

Journal of Hand Surgery, 1992
We retrospectively reviewed 42 patients who underwent resection of the distal ulna with implantation of a silicone rubber ulnar head prosthesis (45 wrists). Two prostheses were used: the original Swanson prosthesis, and a prosthesis of our own design. Follow-up X-rays showed migration or breakage of 63% of the prostheses.

The Wagner Surface Replacement Arthroplasty

Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1982
The Wagner resurfacing arthroplasty was designed to provide a more conservative means of treatment for patients with debilitating hip disease, while at the same time providing functional results similar to those of conventional total hip arthroplasty. The Wagner procedure is conservative on the femoral side, as it is successful in preserving the head ...
