Advanced Testing Protocols Simulate Failures and Validate Antioxidant Polyethylene in Ankle Implants
Abstract Total ankle replacement (TAR) has become an effective treatment for end‐stage ankle osteoarthritis. Multiple factors, including patient characteristics, surgical technique, alignment, and bearing surfaces, influence TAR survivorship. Polyethylene (PE) fatigue is a key consideration in improving outcomes.

Comparison of External Rotation Torque of Short External Rotator Muscles in Hip Flexion Position
Preserving the short external rotator muscles of the hip helps prevent dislocation after total hip arthroplasty, but it's unclear which muscles are most critical. This study quantified the external rotation torque in cadaveric hips and found that the obturator externus provides the highest torque during deep hip flexion, where dislocations often occur.

Reduced Muscle Strength Can Alter the Impact of Gait Modifications on Knee Cartilage Mechanics
ABSTRACT Muscle strength can substantially influence knee joint loading, stability, and cartilage biomechanics, all of which are important factors in the onset and progression of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Noninvasive rehabilitation methods, such as gait modifications, are suggested to effectively alter knee joint loading, potentially helping to ...

ABSTRACT Isothermal microcalorimetry (IMC) is a promising tool for diagnosing periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), based on real‐time measurement of growth‐related heat production of pathogens, and faster than conventional microbial cultures. However, the feasibility of identifying specific pathogens in clinical samples using IMC has yet to be proven.

Background and purpose — During revision hip arthroplasty the dual mobility cup (DMC) is widely used to prevent dislocation despite limited knowledge of implant longevity. We determined the 5-year cup re-revision rates of DMC compared with unipolar cups (

ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Metastatic bone disease (MBD) is a common complication of primary cancers and is typically managed surgically. Overall health status and nutritional optimization are essential in surgical outcomes. The objective of this study was to report the intersectionality of previously studied laboratory, imaging, and clinical ...
