Ankle arthroscopy is an increasingly useful technique for dealing with a wide range of ankle pathology. Improvements in technique and instrumentation are expanding the range of diagnostic and therapeutic indications for arthroscopy of the ankle. Indications include removal of loose bodies, debridement and drilling of osteochondral defects, relief of ...

Arthroscopy has served a diagnostic role for most of this century, but found widespread popularity only when operative interventions were coupled with the procedure. The untapped potential inherent in directly observing the pathoanatomy underlying various rheumatologic disorders is being unlocked by developments on several fronts that have taken ...

Understanding of wrist biomechanics and pathology is enhanced by wrist arthroscopy. The procedure does indeed provide an alternative to arthrotomy in selected situations, greatly decreasing patient morbidity. It is a difficult skill to acquire; however, wrist arthroscopy presents diagnostic and therapeutic benefits that far outweigh this short-lived ...

In a period of 20 months, over 200 patients (age ranged from high school students to middle-aged persons) with knee injuries were treated by operative arthroscopy. The majority of the injuries were incurred while the patients had been participating in athletic events, either competitive or recreational.

The speed of the evolution in ankle arthroscopy is staggering. Indications for the procedure continue to grow, and surgeons' skill in applying the latest technology to perform surgery better has advanced significantly in a short period of time. Certainly the biggest limitation to this point has been limited access to lesions in the posterior ankle ...

ABSTRACTARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY, a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure, is a valuable tool in the diagnosis and treatment of most disorders of the wrist. It offers direct visualization of the structures of the joint anatomy and existing disease processes while causing minimal damage to surrounding soft tissue.OTHER BENEFITS of arthroscopic treatment ...

Decreased surgical morbidity and rapid recovery time associated with arthroscopic surgery of the elbow justify its preference over more extensive open incisions in selected cases. Not all elbow conditions can be treated arthroscopically, however, and open incisions are still preferred in more extensive problems such as displaced fractures and olecranon

A review of the results of arthroscopies on patients taken from an 'open access' service waiting list has been carried out. One-third of all arthroscopies proved to be negative. Accuracy of clinical diagnosis was not related to the clinical grade of the examining doctor.

Metacarpophalangeal Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic & Related Surgery, 1999Although small joint arthroscopy has become commonplace over the past decade, relatively little attention has been paid to the investigation and clinical utility of metacarpophalangeal (MP) joint arthroscopy. The literature is scant in this area and consists of only a handful of case reports.
