Pathogenesis of Experimental Histoplasmosis in the Bat, Artibeus Lituratus

American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1981
The pathogenesis of histoplasmosis was studied following intraperitoneal or intranasal infection of the neotropical bat, Artibeus lituratus. Groups of bats received either 10(4) or 10 viable mycelial fragments of Histoplasma capsulatum by intraperitoneal injection, or 10(6) or 10(4) viable mycelial particles by intranasal instillation.

Duration of the seminiferous epithelium cycle in the frugivorous bat Artibeus lituratus

Theriogenology, 2020
The seminiferous epithelium goes through multiple changes which enables the differentiation of a spermatogonia in a fully mature spermatozoon. The timing of these changes is species-specific and influences the duration of the reproductive cycles. Bats are among wild mammals whose coordination between male and female reproductive cycles are imperative ...

Metabolic cost of acute phase response in the frugivorous bat, Artibeus lituratus

Mammal Research, 2018
(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) Bats play a key role as host for multiple microorganism and virus without showing clinical manifestations of disease. After recognition of a potential threat, innate immunity triggers acute phase response, a systemic reaction that contributes to restrain microbial and viral growth. APR is characterized
