Needle artifact reduction during interventional CT procedures using a silver filter

open access: yesBMC Biomedical Engineering
Background MAR algorithms have not been productized in interventional imaging because they are too time-consuming. Application of a beam hardening filter can mitigate metal artifacts and doesn’t increase computational burden.

From In‐Silico Optimized Microfabrication to Experimental Validation: Engineering a Tridimensional Epi‐Intraneural Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An epi‐intraneural interface is developed through in silico optimization and a novel tridimensional microfabrication pipeline. The device integrates penetrating and epineural contacts on a flexible substrate. Mechanical, electrochemical, and in vivo testing in rat and pig reveal robust implantation, low‐threshold activation, and site‐dependent ...

Intraindividual Comparison of Image Artifacts of Two Generations of Rotatable Cochlear Implant Magnets

open access: yesJournal of International Advanced Otology
Background: In cochlear implant recipients, the diagnostic value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans is reduced by image artifacts. The static magnetic field of a 3.0T scanner is associated with the risk of implant demagnetization.

Disassembling an experimental artifact in aphasia: Why phonemic errors with words and semantic errors with numbers?

open access: yesCortex
There is broad consensus as to the significance of speech errors in aphasia. The analysis of errors is understood to provide clear clues for clinical diagnosis, the identification of those cognitive-linguistic processes affected, and the corresponding impaired cerebral structures. However, Stimulus Type Effect on Phonological and Semantic errors (STEPS)

Contact Lens with Moiré Patterns for High‐Precision Eye Tracking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a passive contact lens for high‐precision eye tracking, integrating a microscopic moiré grating label. The parallax‐induced shift of macroscopic moiré patterns enables angle measurement with 0.28° precision using a standard camera under ambient light.
