Artifacts Causing Artifacts

Pediatrics, 1993
To the Editor.— Neonatologists frequently contend with artifacts produced by medical equipment causing unwanted shadows on chest and abdominal radiographs. These artifacts are frequently caused by monitoring equipment and respiratory tubing. We have not yet encountered cases of religious artifacts causing such distorting images.

Condensation Artifact

Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2021
During the ongoing COVID‐19 pandemic, an artifact with hyperintense signal was observed on the brain images of a number of patients or research subjects, particularly those with heavy body weight and/or increased respiratory rate. The artifact was primarily seen on 3D or 2D sagittal or coronal T2‐weighted images, although it occasionally also appeared ...

Artifacts and artifact reduction in sonoelastography

2000 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings. An International Symposium (Cat. No.00CH37121), 2002
A technique for reducing vibration artifacts encountered when using pure tone vibration in vibration amplitude sonoelastography is presented. Multi-tone signals were designed to synchronize with the pulse repetition frequency and packet size of the scanner.

Is It Real or Is It an Artifact

Ultrasound Quarterly, 2001
Sonographic artifacts are inherent to the modality and occur to some extent in every image. This is despite optimal technique and scanning parameters. Artifacts occur in both gray-scale and color Doppler imaging, and though many are readily recognizable as such, occasionally, an artifact may obscure the diagnosis or even create false pathology.

Law as an Artifact

2018
The thesis that law is an artifact has several implications: that the instantiations of law have authors and are intentionally created, that law has a function, that law is a special type of artifact, i.e. an institutional, abstract, public and social artifact, and that law cannot exist if it is not socially efficacious.

The Urinal Artifact

Radiology, 1978
Abrupt narrowing of the male anterior urethra has been increasingly observed during voiding cystourethrography due to extrinsic pressure from a urinal. The true nature of this narrowing must be recognized to avoid misinterpretation.
