Field‐Driven Reversal Models in Artificial Spin Ice [PDF]
AbstractA set of topological arrangements of individual ferromagnetic islands in ideal and disordered artificial spin ice (ASI) arrays is investigated in order to evaluate how aspects of their field‐driven reversal are affected by the model used. The set contains the pinwheel and square ice tilings, and thus a range of magnetic ordering and reversal ...

Emerging Chirality in Artificial Spin Ice [PDF]
Chiral Ice Water ice, even at the lowest temperatures, is not completely “frozen”—its lattice structure allows for multiple equivalent ground states and it thus retains finite entropy even at absolute zero. Equivalent structures are realized in frustrated magnets called spin ices, where spins interact ferromagnetically, and in ...

Persistent dynamic magnetic state in artificial honeycomb spin ice
Topological magnetic charges, arising due to the non-vanishing magnetic flux on spin ice vertices, serve as the origin of magnetic monopoles that traverse the underlying lattice effortlessly.

Thermal Phase Transitions in Artificial Spin Ice [PDF]
We use the sixteen vertex model to describe bi-dimensional artificial spin ice (ASI). We find excellent agreement between vertex densities in fifteen differently grown samples and the predictions of the model. Our results demonstrate that the samples are in usual thermal equilibrium away from a critical point separating a disordered and an anti ...

Spin-Wave Dynamics and Symmetry Breaking in an Artificial Spin Ice [PDF]
Artificial spin ices are periodic arrangements of interacting nanomagnets successfully used to investigate emergent phenomena in the presence of geometric frustration. Recently, it has been shown that artificial spin ices can be used as building blocks for creating functional materials, such as magnonic crystals, and support a large number of ...

Exploring the phase diagram of 3D artificial spin-ice
Artificial spin-ices consist of lithographic arrays of single-domain magnetic nanowires organised into frustrated lattices. These geometries are usually two-dimensional, allowing a direct exploration of physics associated with frustration, topology and ...

flatspin: A large-scale artificial spin ice simulator
We present flatspin, a novel simulator for systems of interacting mesoscopic spins on a lattice, also known as artificial spin ice (ASI). Our magnetic switching criteria enables ASI dynamics to be captured in a dipole model. Through GPU acceleration, flatspin can simulate realistic dynamics of millions of magnets within practical time frames.
