Growth and Variation in Fallow Deer (Dama dama L.) From Two Contrasting Habitats in Southern Britain

open access: yesActa Zoologica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We have compiled a unique data set on the age, sex, body weight and dimensions of over 500 European fallow deer from two contrasting areas of habitat in southern England: a high‐density managed parkland population and a lower‐density feral woodland one.

The return of metabolism: biochemistry and physiology of glycolysis

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glycolysis is a fundamental metabolic pathway central to the bioenergetics and physiology of virtually all living organisms. In this comprehensive review, we explore the intricate biochemical principles and evolutionary origins of glycolytic pathways, from the classical Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas (EMP) pathway in humans to various prokaryotic and ...

Oral Health and Social Isolation After 6 Years: Mediation of Oral Functions

open access: yesCommunity Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Tooth loss was longitudinally associated with social isolation. The absence of dental prosthesis use was an additional risk factor. However, the mediating pathways for this association are unknown. The aim of this cohort study was to estimate the mediating effect of three oral functions: speaking, smiling and chewing observed at ...

Homo luzonensis and the role of homoplasy in the morphology of hominin insular species

open access: yesCladistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Homo luzonensis lived during the upper Pleistocene in the northern Philippines, east of the Wallace line. The few specimens attributed to this species show a mosaic of plesiomorphies for the genus Homo and apomorphies found in upper Pleistocene Homo species.

Dental Research in the Digital Age: The Registry‐Based Clinical Trial

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With the global increase in the volume of digital health data recorded and accessible through national and institutional databases, such as clinical registries and evidence‐based registries, new strategic approaches are now feasible in medical research. These approaches include the registry‐based clinical trial (RBCT) design, where large‐scale

Mechanical Force Promotes Mitochondrial Transfer From Macrophages to BMSCs to Enhance Bone Formation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Mechanical tension activates Drp1‐mediated mitochondrial fission in macrophages, facilitating the release of Mito‐EVs that are subsequently transferred to BMSCs. Additionally, the CD200R‐CD200 interaction enhances the uptake of these mechanically stimulated macrophage‐derived Mito‐EVs by BMSCs, ultimately promoting osteogenic differentiation.
