Matrix Representations of Artin Groups [PDF]
We define matrix representations of Artin groups over a 2 2 -variable Laurent-polynomial ring and show that in the rank 2 case, the representations are faithful. In the special case of Artin’s braid group, our representation is a version of the Burau representation and our faithfulness theorem is a generalization of the well-known fact

Conjugacy in relatively extra-large Artin groups [PDF]
Let A be an Artin group with standard generators X={x 1 ,…,x n } , n≥1 and defining graph Γ A . A \emph{standard parabolic subgroup} of A is a subgroup generated by a subset of X .

Generalizations of the standard Artin representation are unitary
We consider the Magnus representation of the image of the braid group under the generalizations of the standard Artin representation discovered by M. Wada.

Embeddings of graph braid and surface groups in right-angled Artin groups and braid groups
We prove by explicit construction that graph braid groups and most surface groups can be embedded in a natural way in right-angled Artin groups, and we point out some consequences of these embedding results.

Filling loops at infinity in the mapping class group [PDF]
We study the Dehn function at infinity in the mapping class group, finding a polynomial upper bound of degree four. This is the same upper bound that holds for arbitrary right-angled Artin groups.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures; this note presents a result ...

A conjecture about Artin–Tits groups [PDF]
We conjecture that the word problem of Artin-Tits groups can be solved without introducing trivial factors ss^{-1} or s^{-1}s. Here we make this statement precise and explain how it can be seen as a weak form of hyperbolicity. We prove the conjecture in the case of Artin-Tits groups of type FC, and we discuss various possible approaches for further ...

A topological model of composite preons from the minimal ideals of two Clifford algebras
This paper demonstrates a direct correspondence between a recent algebraic characterization of leptons and quarks as basis elements of the minimal one-sided ideals of the complex Clifford algebras Cℓ(6) and Cℓ(4), shown earlier to transform as a single ...

Applications for the groups S.U.T.(2,p) where p prime upper than 9
The problem of finding the cyclic decomposition (c.d.) for the groups ), where prime upper than 9 is determined in this work. Also, we compute the Artin characters (A.ch.) and Artin indicator (A.ind.) for the same groups, we obtain that after computing

The Interplay between Linear Representations of the Braid Group
We consider Wada's representation as a twisted version of the standard action of the braid group, Bn, on the free group with n generators. Constructing a free group, Gnm, of rank nm, we compose Cohen's map Bn→Bnm and the embedding Bnm→Aut(Gnm) via Wada's
