Artisanal fishing boats in the Seychelles

The results of a census of fishing boats on Mahe Praslin and La Digue are presented in total 439 active fishing boats were counted of which 156 were pirogues, 196 were outboards, 68 were whalers and 19 were schooners. The details are discussed in relation to the catch assessment survey conducted by Seychelles fishing Authority.

Fishing gear used by artisanal fishery of Selinunte

The aim of this work was to identify and classify the fishing gear used by the artisanal fishing fleet of Selinunte (Trapani, Sicily, Italy). The artisanal fishery guest in Selinunte port counts 43 fishing boats, with a gross tonnage (GRT) of about 90 metric tons; the average age of boats is about 33 years.
