There are lots of wooden civil and religious architectural artifacts in Artvin Borçka district in East Black Sea region. The religious buildings within the district identifies with their construction techniques. Some of these mosques have been registered and restored by the conservation efforts of local communities.

1877-1878 Osmanlı-Rus Savaşı sonucu Rus egemenliğine giren Artvin ve çevresi, 1918 tarihli Mondros Mütarekesi’nden sonra İngiliz ve Gürcülerin işgaline uğradı. 1921 yılı başlarında Ardahan’la birlikte Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi Hükümeti’nin egemenliğine giren Artvin’de, 7 Temmuz 1921 tarihinde liva (sancak) teşkilatı kuruldu.

The Salh Bey Mosque s n Çayağzı Street n Artvn. Ths street's old name was Korzul. The mosque was bult by Salh Bey n 1790. The frst Imam and preacher of the mosque was Salh Bey, too.. After hs death, hs son Süleyman was attaned as Imam and preacher. Later, the Imam system was passed from the father to the son.
