Genome-wide comparative chromosome maps of Arvicola amphibius, Dicrostonyx torquatus, and Myodes rutilus

Chromosome Research, 2015
The subfamily Arvicolinae consists of a great number of species with highly diversified karyotypes. In spite of the wide use of arvicolines in biological and medicine studies, the data on their karyotype structures are limited. Here, we made a set of painting probes from flow-sorted chromosomes of a male Palearctic collared lemming (Dicrostonyx ...

Metapopulation dynamics and a landscape approach to conservation of lowland water voles (Arvicola amphibius)

Landscape Ecology, 2011
Effective conservation management for species that function as metapopulations requires an understanding of population dynamics at the landscape scale. The water vole, Arvicola amphibius, is one such species. Water voles have recently undergone a significant decline in the UK, as a result of habitat loss and predation from the introduced American mink,

Apical Elongation of Molars in the Water Vole (Arvicola amphibius (L.), Rodentia, Arvicolinae)

Biology Bulletin
Dental anomalies of the lower and upper jaws caused by the proliferation of the apical parts of the molars were found in water voles from a laboratory colony. Such a molar phenotype is observed in several representatives of the subfamily Arvicolinae with a constant growth of cheek teeth.

The ecology of the water vole (Arvicola amphibius) in grassland habitats in the City of Glasgow

2015
The water vole, Arvicola amphibius, is a declining British species. Its range is limited to riparian margins along water courses and reed beds and they are considered to have strict habitat preferences. Unusual populations living in grassland habitats in the East End of Glasgow came to light in 2008.

Historical distribution of Arvicola cf. amphibius (Mammalia, Rodentia, Cricetidae) in southern Tuscany [La distribuzione storica di Arvicola cf. amphibius (Mammalia, Rodentia, Cricetidae) in Toscana meridionale]

2007
Arvicola cf. amphibius occurs in most regions of peninsular Italy, showing a rather patchy distribution in central and southern districts. The literature, museum specimens and unpublished data show that the species was once present in coastal areas and in some inland localities of southern Tuscany.

[Correlations of reproductive parameters of water vole females (Arvicola amphibius) with morphometric and hormonal characteristics].

Zhurnal evoliutsionnoi biokhimii i fiziologii, 2015
Fluctuations in water vole population size depend on abiotic and intra-population factors affecting the physiological condition of females. The relationship between variability in reproductive success and morpho-physiological characteristics of female during pregnancy is studied quite poorly.
