Laser arytenoidectomy in children with bilateral vocal fold immobility [PDF]
Bilateral vocal fold immobility in children is a challenging problem because a balance between good airway and voice quality has to be achieved. Surgery to improve the airway is often postponed or avoided because of fear of losing the voice. In this study our results of laser arytenoidectomy in children are described.

Laser Arytenoidectomy for Bilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis.
Laser arytenoidectomy can be performed via an intralaryngeal approach which preserves airway and voice quality without aspiration. Laser arytenoidectomy is minimally invasive surgery, and a useful surgical procedure for bilateral vocal fold paralysis. CO2 laser arytenoidectomy was performed for 12 cases of bilateral vocal fold paralysis.

Abstract Laryngeal electromyography (LEMG) is a technique used to characterize neuropathic injuries to the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) and superior laryngeal nerve (SLN). The RLN and SLN innervate the laryngeal muscles to produce vocal fold (VF) motion and elongation, respectively. VF motion deficiencies can affect voice, swallowing, and breathing,
