Mechanical properties and water-absorption characteristics of selected natural fibers as a replacement for asbestos

open access: yesMateriali in tehnologije, 2021
This work investigates the influence of banana (Musa Sapientum) and jute fibers as a reinforcement in a cement/waste brown paper pulp matrix for applications in housing construction in Nigeria. The natural fibers were extracted from banana trunk and cocoa sack and, thereafter, treated with 1-M sodium hydroxide (NaOH) for 2 h to expose the lignin and ...

Calculation of the dependence of friction coefficient of locomotive composite ridge brake shoes on pressing force and braking speed

open access: yesВестник Научно-исследовательского института железнодорожного транспорта, 2021
JSC “FRITEX” has developed non-asbestos ridge composite brake shoes UR 01-01 with a reduced coefficient of friction, which, in contrast to the cast iron ridge brake shoes currently used on locomotives, have high wear resistance and more stable frictional

Crude Fiber Determination Using Ceramic Fiber to Replace Asbestos

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1982
Abstract Crude fiber was determined in a wide range of feed products by a method which specifies ceramic fiber as a filter medium instead of the more hazardous and difficult to obtain asbestos. Results correlated well with those obtained by using AOAC official final action method 7.061-7.065 (correlation coefficient, 0.9994).

A Study on Cement Partially Replaced with Chalk Powder and Coconut Fiber Ash with the Addition of Asbestos Fiber

open access: yesInternational Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology, 2023
Abstract: Concrete can be defined as a building material that can be composed by mixing gravel or broken stone, sand, cement, and water. The mixture can be poured into any shape, size of mould, which on hardening gives a solid stone like mass, the strength of hardened solid mass can be increased by adding admixtures.

Study on Partially Replacing Cement with Groundnut Shell and Sugarcane Bagasse Ash with adding Asbestos Fibre

open access: yesInternational Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology, 2023
Abstract: The industrial waste contains many inorganic and toxic substances far away the acceptable limit which cause an impact on the environment. Scarcity of the const. materials used the natural resources like sand aggregates and stone aggregate. The partial replacement of aggregates is need for the future generation of concrete structures for the ...
