Association of Cystic Medial Necrosis of the Aorta and Undiagnosed Thyroiditis [Scripta Medica] [PDF]
We have recently seen two patients with cystic medial necrosis of the aorta. The first patient died of a dissecting aneurysm of the thoracic aorta. At autopsy, classical Hashimoto’s thyroiditis was discovered.

Descending aortic calcification increases renal dysfunction and in-hospital mortality in cardiac surgery patients with intraaortic balloon pump counterpulsation placed perioperatively : a case control study [PDF]
Introduction: Acute kidney injury (AKI) after cardiac surgery increases length of hospital stay and in-hospital mortality. A significant number of patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures require perioperative intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP ...

Ascending aorta to bifemoral bypass—a ventral aorta
In the decade since April 1975 we accumulated a series of 18 patients with arterial conduits from the ascending aorta to the femoral arteries, 10 men aged 53 to 75 years (mean, 60 years) and eight women aged 33 to 56 years (mean, 50 years). In the first two patients, the conduit was placed subcutaneously; in the remaining 16 patients, it was placed ...

Inflammatory aneurysm of the ascending aorta [PDF]
Inflammatory aneurysms of the aorta are usually seen in the infrarenal abdominal aorta and very rarely in the ascending aorta. We present the case of a 76-year-old male with inflammatory aneurysm of the ascending aorta.

A Superlubricated Magnetically Steerable Microcatheter with Integrated Optical and Fluidic Channels
A magnetically steerable microcatheter with integrated optical and fluidic channels is developed for multifunctional navigation in tortuous anatomical environments. A surface‐grafted hydrogel coating enables low‐friction actuation. The device demonstrates stable light and fluid delivery during magnetic manipulation, offering a compact platform for ...

Aortic stenting in the growing sheep causes aortic endothelial dysfunction but not hypertension: Clinical implications for coarctation repair [PDF]
Stent implantation is the treatment of choice for adolescents and adults with aortic coarctation (CoAo). Despite excellent short-term results, 20%-40% of the patients develop arterial hypertension later in life, which was attributed to inappropriate ...

NARFL Knockout Triggers Ferroptosis‐Driven Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction
NARFL is vital for CIA and oxidative stress resistance. NARFL deletion in HPMEC cells, zebrafish, and mice is lethal and rescued by a Ferroptosis inhibitor. NARFL deficiency disrupted its interaction with CIA proteins, decreased aconitase activity, increased IRP1 activity, induced Fe overload, and led to ferroptosis and oxidative stress, resulting in ...
