Management of chylous ascites following pancreaticobiliary surgery

Chyle leak is a rare complication following pancreaticobiliary surgery. There is no clear‐cut management guideline. This paper highlights the possible mechanism of chyle leak and its management. Background Chyle leak is an uncommon form of ascites occurring due to the accumulation of lipid‐rich lymph into the peritoneal cavity.

Caroli disease is a rare disorder characterized by congenital dilatation of the intrahepatic biliary tree and may be associated with polycystic kidney disease. Patients usually present with intermittent abdominal pain, hepatomegaly, and recurrent cholangitis. Renal failure as a presenting complaint of Caroli disease is rare.

Organoids from colorectal peritoneal metastases as a platform for improving hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy

Organoid technology was used to create a preclinical model for evaluation of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for peritoneal metastases from colorectal cancer. Current HIPEC regimens were tested and a novel rational treatment combination of mitomycin C with inhibitors of ATR was investigated.
