Achieving Net‐Zero in the Electricity Sector in China by 2050 Considering Environmental and Economic Objectives

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 3, March 2026.
China's pathways to net‐zero electricity by 2050 are evaluated using life cycle environmental and economic assessment across six scenarios. Results show that a renewables‐only grid offers the best overall environmental performance and lowest cost, but increases burdens on metal depletion, land use, and ecotoxicity.

Topics in Cement and Concrete Research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In recent decades, the construction sector has faced many changes. One of these changes is the shift in the role of national government from one-sided practices in which the government was solely responsible for strategic and long-term spatial planning ...

Instantaneous Capture and Mineralization of Flue Gas Carbon Dioxide: Pilot Scale Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Multiple CO2 capture and storage (CCS) processes are required to address anthropogenic CO2 problems. However, a method which can directly capture and mineralize CO2 at a point source, under actual field conditions, has advantages and could help offset ...

Enhancing Interfacial Dioxygen Bridging Dynamics of Waste‐Derived Cathode Catalysts for Augmented High‐Rate Performance in Li‐O2 Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 14, 9 March 2026.
This study fabricates Fine Slag/Ti4O7@TiC hybrids with interfacial dioxygen bridge coupling to optimize oxygen redox dynamics in lithium‐oxygen batteries (LOBs). Lattice distortion from oxygen vacancies and inherent charge repulsion of Ti‐O‐C interfacial coupling reconstruct and refine the surface coordination environment.

Wykorzystanie Ekstrakcji Sekwencyjnej Do Oceny Zagrożeń Dla Środowiska Powodowanych Przez Żużle I Popioły Z Procesu Termicznego Przekształcania Odpadów [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Thermal treatment of waste is one of the ways of their processing. It is commonly used in most developed countries of the European Union. Major by-products of the combustion processes are slag and bottom ash.

Circular Alkali‐Activated Cements Based on EAF Slags and Biomass Bottom Ash Using Rice Husk Ash–Derived Sodium Silicate

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates sodium silicate (SS) solutions derived from rice husk ash (RHA) dissolved in 8 M NaOH as sustainable activators for alkali‐activated cements (AACs), compared with commercial SS. AACs were produced using a 50:50 blend of electric arc furnace slag (EAFS) and biomass bottom ash (BA). The effects of NaOH/RHA ratio (6.6–2.8)

Mechanical properties, pozzolanic activity and volume stability of copper slag-filled cementitious materials

open access: yesMedžiagotyra, 2019
Copper slag is a by-product waste during copper pyrometallurgy. The piling-stack of copper slag not only occupies a large quantity of plowland, but causes potential danger for local residents.

Phase Transformations, Microstructural Effects, and Photocatalytic Activity of Tungsten Trioxide‐Geopolymer Composites

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 3, March 2026.
. ABSTRACT Water and air pollution are pervasive issues, impacting the majority of global citizens. In response, geopolymers functionalized with photocatalytic metal oxides have emerged as sustainable materials for environmental remediation. This study examines how the Si/Al molar ratio (1 and 2) and photocatalytic WO3 loading (WO3/Al molar ratios of ...
