On 4 May 2009, specimens of a whitefly were collected by the senior author on wild olive, Olea europeae subsp. africana, in the Western Cape at Vermont, Hermanus (34°25'S 19°10'E), and on 22 May 2009 a grower from Halfmanshof, Porterville (33°08'S 18°58'E) submitted leaf samples of pomegranate (Punica granatum) with a heavy whitefly infestation.
