Inhaling Eugenol Inhibits NAFLD by Activating the Hepatic Ectopic Olfactory Receptor Olfr544 and Modulating the Gut Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inhalable eugenol (EUG) from clove oil attenuates NAFLD by activating hepatic olfactory receptor Olfr544, triggering cAMP/PKA/CREB signaling to enhance lipolysis/oxidation. EUG concurrently restores gut microbiota, enriching probiotics (L. reuteri XR23/L. johnsonii XR25) and metabolites (IPA/5‐HIAA) that suppress lipogenesis.

Row Crops and the U.S. Agricultural Trade Deficit: Recent Trends and Policy Issues

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Row crops such as soybeans, corn, wheat, and cotton are the backbone of the U.S. farm sector, accounting for around $60 billion of exports in 2023. While U.S. row crop exports remain robust, growing concerns over the rising U.S. agricultural trade deficit underscore the need to appraise the ongoing market and policy dynamics affecting the ...

Dynamical influence of the Tibetan Plateau on the winter monsoon over southeastern Asia [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2009
Previous studies have shown (1) that the Tibetan Plateau produces a significant fraction of the two components of the Equatorial Mountain Torque (EMT) in winter, (2) that these torques are in part related to the East Asian cold surges, and (3) that the cold surges affect the convection over the maritime continent.

Does elevation dependent warming exist in high mountain Asia?

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2020
A majority of studies suggest that elevation dependent warming (EDW) has been verified in mountainous areas. However, there is some controversy about the EDW of high mountain Asia (HMA).
