A new look at the “Asian disease” problem: A choice between the best possible outcomes or between the worst possible outcomes?

open access: yesThinking & Reasoning, 2006
The "Asian disease" problem (Tversky & Kahneman, 1981) demonstrated behaviour in contradiction to the invariance axiom of EU theory. However, the risky choice behaviour was simply seen by the equate-to-differentiate model as a choice between the best possible outcomes or a choice between the worst possible outcomes.

A neural network model of decisions on the Asian Disease Problem

2015 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), 2015
Tversky and Kahneman [1] found that human decisions can be inconsistent across descriptions of the options. An example is the Asian Disease Problem, whereby preferences between two public health programs are different when options are framed in terms of deaths versus lives saved.
