Three-dimensional seismic velocity structure beneath Aso Volcano, Kyushu, Japan
Bulletin of Volcanology, 2001Tomographic results for P- and S-wave velocity structure beneath the active Aso Volcano, Kyushu, Japan, using 800 well-recorded earthquakes and ten shots recorded by an eight-station seismic network, are presented. A 68% variance reduction was achieved upon simultaneous inversion for hypocenter and velocity structure.

Sedimentary Geology, 2009Abstract A detailed 90,000-year tephrostratigraphic framework of Aso Volcano, southwestern Japan, has been constructed to understand the post-caldera eruptive history of the volcano. Post-caldera central cones were initiated soon after the last caldera-forming pyroclastic-flow eruption (90 ka), and have produced voluminous tephra and lava flows.

Ash eruption of the Naka-dake crater, Aso volcano, southwestern Japan
Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, 1995Abstract Naka-dake is the only active central cone in the Aso caldera, central Kyushu, Japan. During active periods it erupts characteristically black ash, and the ash has been the dominant eruptive product during the past 6,000 years at Naka-dake volcano.
