Recombinant Production and Characterization of Six Ene‐reductases from Penicillium steckii

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
This study explores the catalytic potential of novel ene‐reductases (ERs) from Penicillium steckii, a fungal species known for valuable metabolites. Through the recombinant production and purification of six ERs, we identified diverse substrate profiles and moderate stability.

Lienhwalides: Unique Tropolone–Maleidride Hybrids from Hypoxylon lienhwacheense

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Lienhwalides are novel tropolone–maleidride hybrid molecules unique in nature. Absolute configuration is solved by semisynthetic approaches and X‐ray analysis. Interplay between both lwt and lwm biosynthetic gene clusters is responsible for the production of lienhwalides.

Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8 offers an anti-inflammatory and antifungal method in the treatment of Aspergillus fungus keratitis in vitro and in vivo [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Background: Fungal keratitis is a serious blinding eye disease. Traditional drugs used to treat fungal keratitis commonly have the disadvantages of low bioavailability, poor dispersion, and limited permeability. Purpose: To develop a new method for the treatment of fungal keratitis with improved bioavailability, dispersion, and permeability.

A Simple NMR‐Based Rule for Stereochemical Assignment of 1,5‐Diols in Polyketides

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
We report a facile and quantitative ΔδHaHb method for stereochemical assignment of 1,5‐related alcohols using the 1H NMR chemical shift difference between diastereotopic methylene protons and use it to propose the stereochemistry in previously unassigned natural products.

Anti fungal activity of alcoholic extract of Peganum harmala seeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In our study, it was aimed to determine antifungal activity of Peganum harmala on medically important yeasts and molds in vitro. Fungal suspensions of Candida spp and aspergillus spp isolated from the clinical specimens were treated with serial dilutions

Frosted DNA: β‐Galactosidase Control of Oligonucleotide Activity

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
β‐Galactosidase is expressed at low level in many native cells and strongly upregulated in senescent cells. In the present study, we use β‐galactosidase activity as internal trigger to control the hybridization of oligonucleotides–eventually selective in senescent cells. ABSTRACT We introduce a novel approach for the control of oligonucleotides through
