Reclaimed asphalt pavement with waste frying oil and crumb rubber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The application of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) has become a relatively standard material in the road industry in most countries. However, some of the problems associated with the addition of RAP to asphalt mixtures are the increase in moisture and ...

Rheological Properties of Graphene Modified Asphalt Binders [PDF]

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
Recently, low-cost, high-quality graphene can be obtained readily, so it is potential to prepare conductive graphene modified asphalts (GMAs). In this paper, GMAs were prepared with 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% of graphene by weight of composites. Dynamic shear rheological experiments conducted from −30 to 120 °C illustrate that elasticity at above ...

The potential of waste cooking oil as bio-asphalt for alternative binder – an overview [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Enormous quantity of waste products from by-products of frying activity could cause negative impact if not properly managed and disposed. Therefore, recyclability of Waste Cooking Oil (WCO) in binder modification to produce bio-asphalt can be a ...

Experimental investigation of usability of modified asphalt binder with waste expanded polystyrene (EPS)

open access: yesJournal of Innovative Transportation, 2023
EPS (Expanded polystyrene) is widely used in construction and packaging industries. Unfortunately, EPS is not mostly recyclable because it might not be economically feasible to store, transport, and process EPS so that it becomes recyclable.

Application of Cantabrian and Binder Drainage Tests in Designing of Porous Asphalt Binder Content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Traditional mix design methods which normally incorporate the Marshall test are not appropriate to design porous asphalt because of the insensitivity of the Marshall stability values to variations in binder content.

Beyond Imperfect Match: Silicon/Graphite Hybrid Anodes for High‐Energy–Density Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Silicon/graphite (Si/Gr) hybrid anodes are limited by Si's large volume change and mismatch with Gr. This review offers mechanistic insights into imperfectly matched Si/Gr hybrid anodes, elucidating heterogeneous lithiation behavior and interfacial failure pathways, and thereby informing the design of durable, high‐energy–density lithium‐ion batteries.
