Nonlinear viscoelastic analysis of asphalt cement and asphalt mastics

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2014
The nonlinear viscoelastic (NLVE) behaviour of asphalt cement and asphalt mastic are studied using temperature and frequency sweep tests and repeated stress sweep cyclic load tests. These experiments show that the response functions of these materials are strain-level dependent.

Comparative study on mechanical performance of asphalt–cement mortar and emulsified asphalt–cement mortar

Road Materials and Pavement Design, 2016
The composite materials of asphalt–cement (AC) mortar were designed and produced by using different asphalt addition techniques. The objective of this research is to analyse comparatively the mechanical performance of AC mortar and emulsified asphalt–cement (EAC) mortar.

Effect of cement and emulsified asphalt contents on the performance of cement-emulsified asphalt mixture

Construction and Building Materials, 2019
Abstract The effects of cement and emulsified asphalt contents on the performance of cement-emulsified asphalt mixture were systematically evaluated, including the indirect tensile strength, compressive strength, modulus of resilience, tensile strength ratio, dynamic stability, maximum bending strain, and Cantabro loss.

Preliminary Study on Asphalt Emulsion Used in Cement Asphalt Mortar

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2009
Abstract Asphalt emulsion is an important component in the preparation of cement asphalt mortar. In the work reported here, different emulsifiers and basic asphalts were used to manufacture emulsions and their properties were investigated.

Strength Mechanism of Cement-Asphalt Mortar

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2011
The strength mechanisms of two kinds of cement-asphalt (CA) mortar, which vary principally in their strength and elastic modulus, were investigated by environmental scanning electron microscopy, calorimetry, and strength tests. The results showed that the asphalt emulsion delayed the early hydration of the cement and the asphalt membrane had a negative

Flow Behavior of Asphalt Cements

1967
The Kentucky Department of Highways in cooperation with the Bureau of Public Roads is conducting a continuing investigation of the fundamental mechanical properties of flexible pavement materials. The ultimate objective of this investigation is to gain sufficient knowledge of the fundamental mechanical behavior of these materials to support the ...

Reformulation of Asphalt Cements for Paving

Journal of Transportation Engineering, 2002
This paper summarizes research on the behavior of reformulated asphalt cements (AC) produced by different blending combinations of propane precipitated asphalt (PPA) and other petroleum-based components—soft asphalt residues and furfural heavy oils. The asphalt cements were tested fresh and under variable aging conditions.

Workability of Fresh Cement-Asphalt Mastic

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
The Cement-Asphalt Mastic (CAM) is combined with emulsified asphalt and cement. It can mix at room temperature manufacturing and construction without heating. This study investigated viscosity, slump, setting time and segregation of fresh Cement-Asphalt Mastic (CAM). These properties help control the quality of Cement-Asphalt Concrete (CAC).

Viscosity Characterization of Asphalt Cement

1973
There exists an inherent relationship between the commonly used consistency tests (viscosity at 140 F (60 C), viscosity at 275 F (135C), and penetration at 77 F (25 C)) as applied to asphalt cements used in paving. Based on data accumulated from 84 worldwide crude sources of asphalt, it is shown that the viscosity at 140 F is related to each of the ...

Modeling Mechanical Properties of Cement Asphalt Emulsion Mortar with Different Asphalt to Cement Ratios and Temperatures

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2018
AbstractThe compressive strength and elastic modulus of cement asphalt emulsion mortar (CAM) are two fundamental parameters of material design, and their values are highly dependent on asphalt:ceme...
