Revisiting acidulation for tall oil and lignin manufacturing
Abstract Tall oil is a byproduct of the kraft pulping process when softwood is used as raw material. As the production of softwood‐based pulp is in high demand, the optimization of the tall oil production process needs to be revisited to ensure the highest quality and quantity of tall oil manufacturing. In this work, the process for tall oil production

Weakly supervised network based intelligent identification of cracks in asphalt concrete bridge deck
The deck pavement, as an important structure of the bridge, cushions the wheel actions on the bridge, prevents the main girder from rain erosion, and ensures the flatness and slip resistance for vehicles.

Experimental Study on Hydraulic Fracturing of High Asphalt Concrete Core Rock-Fill Dam
In this paper, we experiment on the hydraulic fracturing of asphalt concrete with a voids content higher than 3%, which has arisen from the possible local shear dilatancy of Quxue asphalt’s core wall of concrete core dam, the highest one of the ...

Common construction materials do not deter turtles from nesting in roadside habitat
We used a before‐during‐after study to evaluate rock rip‐rap at wetland crossings as a mitigation strategy to deter female turtles from nesting in unsafe roadside habitats. Although females did not nest in the rip‐rap, they continued to nest in roadside habitat, indicating the strategy was unsuccessful and required further research.

Understanding community assembly for wild species in anthropogenic settings has become increasingly important as biodiversity and ecosystem services are threatened by development pressures. Urban hardscape habitats such as parking lots are widespread, extreme, terrestrial anthropogenic environments that influence plant community assembly by way of ...
