Design Method of Asphalt Treated Base Asphalt Content Based on Cohesive Strength

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Combining with compression strength and tensile strength, the cohesive strength method is applied to determine the asphalt content (by weight of aggregate) of asphalt treated base (ATB) for the purpose meeting ATB tensile performance. The results are compared with those of Marshall Method.

Alternate Methods To Determine Asphalt Content

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 1998
A method was identified to determine asphalt content to replace chlorinated solvent extraction. Production of trichloroethane was banned on December 31, 1995, as part of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. Initially, the study focused on evaluating the nuclear asphalt content gauge with Marshall plugs. During the course of the research, early data from

Mix design considerations for asphalt wearing courses with high reclaimed asphalt content

2015
The amount of recycling of reclaimed asphalt (RA) in new asphalt pavements has grown up to the point that it is no longer simply an isolated green construction alternative but a common practice in almost all Europe. However, in general the share of recycling the RA in new asphalt courses is rather lower than it could be technically, especially in ...

Estimation of elastic modulus of cement asphalt binder with high content of asphalt

Construction and Building Materials, 2017
Abstract In this paper, the effects of asphalt-to-cement ratio (A/C) and water-to-cement ratio (W/C) on the elastic modulus E c of cement asphalt (CA) binder were studied through measuring the stress-strain curves and phase volume fractions of various CA binder specimens. The results illustrate that the CA binder with high asphalt content (A/C ⩾ 0.

Asphalt Content by Ignition Round Robin Study

1996
The National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) has developed a test method to determine the asphalt content of hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures by ignition. In the ignition method, a HMA sample is subjected to 5380C (lOOO0F) in a furnace to ignite and burn the asphalt cement from the aggregate.

Evaluation of Warm Mix Asphalt Performance Incorporating High Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement Content

2016
Warm mix asphalt (WMA) has gradually become more popular in the roading industry, because, compared to hot mix asphalt (HMA), WMA can bring numerous benefits, such as lower energy consumption, lower emissions, and greater ability to incorporate a high proportion of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) in the mixtures.
