Balanced mix design and mechanical analysis of an AC-5 mixture
To avoid deviations in volumetric parameters and improve correlation with field performance, a balanced mix design for AC-5 was made in this article. The three initial asphalt contents were determined based on engineering experience.

This study integrates meso‐void characterization, statistical analysis, and machine learning to predict the sound absorption of porous asphalt concrete. Void‐ratio‐related features dominate prediction, while Extra Trees performs best among five evaluated models, supporting acoustic‐oriented PAC mixture design.

Crumb rubber modification for enhanced rutting resistance in asphalt mixtures
This study investigated the performance of rubberized asphalt mixtures through Marshall and wheel track tests. The optimal binder content for rubberized asphalt specimens containing 6 and 8% rubber was determined to be 4.9 and 5%, respectively, while the

Hot mix asphalt tender zone [PDF]
Approximately 500 million tons of hot mix asphalt (HMA) are placed in the United States each year. With this large quantity of HMA, it is expected that some construction problems will occur from time to time. One problem that has been observed for years,

Predicting Pavement Condition Index for Cold‐Region Highways Using an ENET‐XGBoost Coupled Model
An ENET–XGBoost framework combines regularized feature selection and nonlinear residual correction for cold‐region pavement prediction. Traffic loading dominates deterioration; the model achieved R2 = 0.969 in back‐calculation, while Markov and scenario analyses indicate a 25% risk of Fair‐or‐below condition in 2026 and PCI of 74.2–77.5 by 2028 ...

Using public fungal occurrence data archived on the Global Biodiversity information facility, and impervious land cover maps from the National Land Cover Database, we were able to demonstrate that impervious cover has a significant influence on the diversity on fungal assemblages. These effects include a reduction in saprotrophic fungal richness, and a
