Mosquito population dynamics are shaped by interactions among larval density, temperature, and relative humidity

open access: yesEcology, Volume 107, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Understanding how variation in key abiotic and biotic factors interact at ecologically relevant spatial scales is crucial for predicting population dynamics, distributions, and abundances. This is especially true for vectors that transmit human pathogens.

Wisconsin mixture characterization using the asphalt mixture performance tester (AMPT) on historical aggregate structures.

open access: yes
WisDOT SPR# 0092-08-06This research evaluated the stiffness and permanent deformation properties of typical Wisconsin Department ofTransportation (WisDOT) asphalt mixtures using the Asphalt Mixture Performance Tester (AMPT) and associated test ...

Evaluation of Permanent Deformation of Asphalt Mixtures Using Loaded Wheel Tester [PDF]

open access: yes
A majority of states in the U.S. had adopted the Superpave volumetric mix design system in the year 2000. However, this system does not have a standard mechanical test to evaluate the potential for permanent deformation (rutting) of the designed asphalt ...

Investigation of Warm-Mix Asphalt Using Iowa Aggregates Final Report; TR-599, April 2011 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The implementation of warm-mix asphalt (WMA) is becoming more widespread with a growing number of contractors utilizing various WMA technologies. Early research suggests WMA may be more susceptible to moisture damage than traditional hot-mix asphalt (HMA)

Experimental, Numerical, and Analytical Model of the Meso‐Mechanical Behavior of Linear Low‐Density Polyethylene Plastic and Sand Composite

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
High‐volume sand reinforcement (up to 62%) dramatically enhances the compressive stiffness of waste LLDPE composites, increasing elastic modulus from 217 to 1683 MPa. A validated 3D RVE mesoscale model (R2 = 0.99) and modified analytical formulation accurately predict elastic behavior at high filler contents where classical models fail.

Adhesion of asphalt mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Adhesion is defined as the molecular force of attraction in the area of contact between unlike bodies of adhesive materials and substrates that acts to hold the bodies together. In the context of asphalt mixtures, adhesion is used to refer to the amount of energy required to break the adhesive bond between bitumen (bitumen-filler mastic) and aggregates.

Design of Large Stone Asphalt Mixes to Minimize Rutting [PDF]

open access: yes
Rutting of heavy duty asphalt pavements has been increasingly experienced in recent years. This phenomenon is primarily resulting from high tire pressures and increased wheel loads.

Protective Effects of Chia Seeds and Vitamin E Against Benzo[a]Pyrene‐Induced Toxicity in Male Mice: A Comparison of co‐Administration and Pre‐Treatment Strategies

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon found in tobacco smoke and grilled foods, induces DNA damage, oxidative stress, liver toxicity, and lipid metabolism disturbances. This study investigated the protective effects of chia seeds (10%, 20%, and 30% in the diet) and vitamin E (250 mg/kg) against BaP‐induced toxicity (20 mg/kg) in male ...

Musculoskeletal (Mal)adaptations in Response to a > 30 000‐km Running Challenge

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Ultra‐endurance sports are increasingly popular, yet the long‐term physiological consequences of sustained extreme training loads remain poorly understood. In particular, the effects of prolonged ultra‐endurance exercise on skeletal muscle structure, function and molecular remodelling are largely unknown.
