Adsorption behavior of asphaltene molecules on rock surface: A molecular dynamic study [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Asphaltene deposition on rock surface seriously affects oil recovery efficiency. Molecular dynamics simulation method is used to study the difference in the adsorption behavior of asphaltene molecules on quartz surface, which will help to improve the in ...

Separation and characterization of asphaltenic subfractions [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2012
The structure of the various asphaltenic subfractions found in crude oil was evaluated. For this purpose, C5 asphaltenes were extracted from an asphaltic residue using n-pentane as the flocculant solvent. The different subfractions were isolated from the C5 asphaltenes by the difference in solubility in different solvents.

Asphaltene oxide promotes a broad range of synthetic transformations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Carbocatalysts, which are catalytically-active materials derived from carbon-rich sources, are attractive alternatives to metal-based analogs. Graphene oxide is a prototypical example and has been successfully employed in a broad range of synthetic ...

Micromechanism of petroleum asphaltene aggregation

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2008
The periodic molecular structure model of solvent-asphaltene system is constructed using molecular mechanical and molecular dynamical methods. The influences of six kinds of different solvents (Nitrobenzene, Quinoline, Pyridine, 1-methylnaphthalene ...

Practical aspects of multiphase slug frequency: An overview

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 103, Issue 6, Page 2880-2894, June 2025.
Abstract Slug frequency, the number of liquid slugs passing through a point per unit of time, is an intrinsic parameter that is used to characterize multiphase slug flows in pipes. In this review we discuss practical aspects of slug frequency for industrial purposes from an examination of published literature and available experimental data. The review

Thermal Conversion of Heavy Oil Systems and Analysis of Structural Changes of their High Components with PMR Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Heavy oil systems are thermolyzed with different ratios of amount of resins and asphaltenes: 3.4, 3.8, 5.3, and 12.4. The change in yield and composition of gaseous, liquid and solid products of thermolysis is shown depending on the ratio of the resin ...

2024, A Landmark Year for Climate Change and Global Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage: Annual Progress Review

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 6, Page 3448-3458, June 2025.
2024 was the hottest year on record and the first in which global temperature and atmospheric CO2 concentration exceeded preindustrial levels by more than 1.5°C and 52%, respectively. In response to these alarming trends, significant efforts were made to advance carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies throughout the year.
