Asphaltene Deposition in Capillary Flow

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2013
Abstract Asphaltene precipitation and deposition may cause severe problems during production, transportation and processing of crude oil, hence affecting efficiency and cost of production in both upstream and downstream operations. During crude oil production they can deposit in rock reservoir pores, thus leading to possible blocking and

Influence of asphaltene on wax deposition: Deposition inhibition and sloughing

Fuel, 2020
Abstract Asphaltenes are the heaviest and most polar constituents of crude oils. The influences of asphaltene on wax deposition were investigated with model oils utilizing a Taylor-Couette device. The composition and rheological properties of the deposits and the chemical properties of the asphaltenes entrained in the deposits were analyzed.

Asphaltene Deposition Forecasting Methods

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Asphaltene deposition problems occurred in many oil fields in worldwide, which maybe block up wellbore, damage the permeability of reservoir and decline oil productivity. There are many factors to result asphalthene deposition problems, which contain crude component, pressure, temperature and so on.

On the Development of an Asphaltene Deposition Simulator

Energy & Fuels, 2010
The potential problem of asphaltene deposition during oil production has motivated the development of several experimental techniques and theoretical models to understand and predict asphaltene behavior. Although important progress has been made in this area, prediction of the rate of asphaltene deposition remains an unsolved problem.

Controlling Asphaltene Deposition in Ageing Wells

SPE International Conference on Oilfield Chemistry, 2023
Abstract ADNOC Onshore produces asphaltene-unstable crudes subject to severe wellbore deposition, which is exacerbated by miscible WAG injection. In one of the oilfields, commissioned in 1973 and producing approximately 400,000 BPD from 4 key reservoirs a cluster of approximately 20 wells experienced severe asphaltene deposition.

The Asphaltene and Wax Deposition Envelopes

Fuel Science and Technology International, 1996
ABSTRACT Asphaltene and wax phase behavior is quite different than the conventional “PVT” phase behavior. Asphaltenes exhibit a behavior at some thermodynamic states called flocculation. That is, asphaltene particles or micelles aggregate or flocculate into larger aggregates or flocs.

Influence of Asphaltene Inhibitors on Wax and Asphaltene Deposition - Are Problems Associated?

Offshore Technology Conference Brasil, 2019
Abstract Organic deposition formed at high temperatures in oil and gas production systems is commonly linked to instability of asphaltenes. Recent studies revealed that deposits collected in offshore production wells produced in Gulf of Mexico exhibited compositional variation pointing to a more complex fouling process than solely ...

Microfluidic investigation of the deposition of asphaltenes in porous media

Lab Chip, 2014
The deposition of asphaltenes in porous media, an important problem in science and macromolecular engineering, was for the first time investigated in a transparent packed-bed microreactor with online analytics that generated high-throughput information.

Modeling of asphaltene deposition in a production tubing

AIChE Journal, 2011
AbstractAsphaltene deposition phenomena are investigated both theoretically and experimentally. A Couette device, where the inner cylinder rotates and particles deposit on the outer wall, is used for deposition laboratory studies. A deposition modeling approach, recently proposed by the authors is improved.

A Global Approach to Asphaltene Deposition Problems

International Symposium on Oilfield Chemistry, 1997
Abstract Asphaltene deposition causes serious problems in production operations, from the reservoir, through production tubing, and in surface facilities. This work presents a systematic approach, preventive and corrective, taken at Intevep S.A to handle asphaltenes deposition problems at the different stages of crude oil production A ...
