Organoporosity evaluation of shale: a case study of the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Shale in southeast Chongqing, China. [PDF]
The organopores play an important role in determining total volume of hydrocarbons in shale gas reservoir. The Lower Silurian Longmaxi Shale in southeast Chongqing was selected as a case to confirm the contribution of organopores (microscale and nanoscale pores within organic matters in shale) formed by hydrocarbon generation to total volume of ...

Abstract Recent studies have shown that biosignatures of ancient microbial life exist in mineral coatings in deep bedrock fractures of Precambrian cratons, but such surveys have been few and far between. Here, we report results from southwestern Sweden in an area of 1.6–1.5 Ga Paleoproterozoic rocks heavily reworked by the 1.14–0.96 Ga Sveconorwegian ...

Abstract In the present study, we investigated the possibility of identifying the source oils of exposed fish using ratios of bicyclic sesquiterpane (bicyclane) chemical biomarkers. In the event of an oil spill, identification of source oil(s) for assessment, or for litigation purposes, typically uses diagnostic ratios of chemical biomarkers to produce

Asphaltite Pyrolysis in Fluidized Bed Reactor
In this study, the pyrolysis properties of asphaltite samples taken from Şırnak and Hakkari regions in a fluidized bed reactor under catalyst and non-catalyst conditions were determined by rapid and batch pyrolysis. Basic analysis, FTIR and XRF analyses were performed for the raw material.

Abstract In the deep biosphere, microbial sulfate reduction (MSR) is exploited for energy. Here, we show that, in fractured continental crystalline bedrock in three areas in Sweden, this process produced sulfide that reacted with iron to form pyrite extremely enriched in 34S relative to 32S.
