SYSTEM FOR MONITORING STRUCTURAL ASSETS
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2014A system for detection of stress and deformation in a structural asset, for instance, one of reinforced concrete. An area on the asset may have a structure interface, such as a patch, attached to it with a fastening mechanism which may be a layer of an epoxy or other material, or be items such as screws, bolts, welds, or the like.

Asset Substitution and Structured Financing
Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, 2009AbstractThis article shows how structured financing can be used to solve the asset substitution problem in a dynamic setting. Structuring induces the firm’s owner to optimally choose the first best operating strategy even though the owner’s value function might be locally convex (concave), which would ordinarily lead to overinvestment (underinvestment)

Ownership Structure, Incentives, and Asset Prices
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2016We show how firms' ownership structures, managerial contracts, and asset prices interact in a dynamic equilibrium model. Our framework distinguishes a firm's small shareholders from its large shareholders, who play the role of mediators by determining managerial contracts, while also influencing asset prices through their dynamic trades.

Asset Liquidity and Capital Structure
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2007AbstractThis paper tests alternative theories about the effect of asset liquidity on capital structure. Using data from a broad sample of U.S. public companies, I find that leverage is positively related to asset liquidity. Further analysis reveals that the relation between asset liquidity and secured debt is positive, whereas the relation between ...

Structural Uncertainty, Learning, and Asset Pricing
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2010We examine the effects of parameter uncertainty and Bayesian learning on equilibrium asset prices when all the structural parameters of the aggregate consumption and dividend growth rate processes are unknown. With realistic calibration of a parsimonious set of prior parameters, the model generates a sizeable equity premium and a low risk-free rate ...

Asset Selection with Changing Capital Structure
The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, 1973One of the major problems in finance is that of combining the separate costs of debt and equity into an appropriate cutoff rate for new investment; this problem is particularly acute when the firm is changing its capital structure. Solutions to this problem which have been proposed include various types of both marginal costing and average costing.

Structural effects of asset-backed securitization
The European Journal of Finance, 2000This paper analyses the potential changes in the operational structure of deposit-taking financial institutions that securitize assets. Findings indicate that banks can create an asset securitization pipeline structure that enables them to increase their return on capital.
