Clinical Phenotyping of Long COVID Patients Evaluated in a Specialized Neuro‐COVID Clinic

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To report Long COVID characteristics and longitudinal courses of patients evaluated between 4/14/21–4/14/22 at the University of Pennsylvania Neurological COVID Clinic (PNCC), including clinical symptoms, neurological examination findings, and neurocognitive screening tests from a standardized PNCC neurological evaluation approach ...

Impact of extracorporeal haemoadsorption during prolonged cardiopulmonary bypass on the incidence of acute kidney injury

open access: yesThe Journal of ExtraCorporeal Technology
The usage of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in cardiothoracic surgery contributes to the activation of the inflammatory response. In certain cases, the systemic inflammatory response may be immoderate, leading to organ dysfunction, such as acute renal ...

convective heat transfer enhancement of non-condensing vertical upward slug flow using capillary-assisted phase separation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This paper discusses the convective heat transfer enhancement of non-condensing slug flows by using phase separation for local liquid circulations through a porous-tube insert. Numerical simulations were carried out to study the air-water slug flow and heat transfer without phase change (boiling and condensation) in a vertical upward flow.

Species-specific differences in follicular antral sizes result from diffusion-based limitations on the thickness of the granulosa cell layer

open access: yes, 2013
The size of mature oocytes is similar across mammalian species, yet the size of ovarian follicles increases with species size, with some ovarian follicles reaching diameters more than 1000-fold the size of the enclosed oocyte.

CNS Mitochondria‐Derived Vesicle in Blood: Potential Biomarkers for Brain Mitochondria Dysfunction

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial dysfunction is a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's (AD) and Parkinson's (PD). Our goal was to develop practical, noninvasive methods to assess mitochondrial status through the detection of mitochondria‐derived vesicles (MDVs).

TAMIGO: Empowering Teaching Assistants using LLM-assisted viva and code assessment in an Advanced Computing Class [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Large Language Models (LLMs) have significantly transformed the educational landscape, offering new tools for students, instructors, and teaching assistants. This paper investigates the application of LLMs in assisting teaching assistants (TAs) with viva and code assessments in an advanced computing class on distributed systems in an Indian University.

Circulant Tensors with Applications to Spectral Hypergraph Theory and Stochastic Process [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Circulant tensors naturally arise from stochastic process and spectral hypergraph theory. The joint moments of stochastic processes are symmetric circulant tensors. The adjacency, Laplacian and signless Laplacian tensors of circulant hypergraphs are also symmetric circulant tensors.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

From Surfaces to Interfaces: Ambient Pressure XPS and Beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The rapidly increasing field of surfaces under ambient conditions of temperature, and pressure in gas and liquid environments, reflects the importance of understanding surface properties in conditions closer to practical situations. This has been enabled
