Applications of Umbral Calculus Associated with p-Adic Invariant Integrals on Zp

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
Recently, Dere and Simsek (2012) have studied the applications of umbral algebra to some special functions. In this paper, we investigate some properties of umbral calculus associated with p-adic invariant integrals on Zp.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Estimates of Upper Bound for a Function Associated with Riemann-Liouville Fractional Integral via h-Convex Functions

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2019
A new identity involving Riemann-Liouville fractional integral is proposed. The result is then used to obtain some estimates of upper bound for a function associated with Riemann-Liouville fractional integral via h-convex functions.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

On Symmetrical Sonin Kernels in Terms of Hypergeometric-Type Functions

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, a new class of kernels of integral transforms of the Laplace convolution type that we named symmetrical Sonin kernels is introduced and investigated.

Global Orbit Patterns for One Dimensional Dynamical Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this article, we study the behaviour of discrete one-dimensional dynamical systems associated to functions on finite sets. We formalise the global orbit pattern formed by all the periodic orbits (gop) as the ordered set of periods when the initial ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

On a Class of Integrals Involving a Bessel Function Times Gegenbauer Polynomials

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2007
We provide information and explicit formulae for a class of integrals involving Bessel functions and Gegenbauer polynomials. We present a simple proof of an old formula of Gegenbauer.

Special functions associated with root systems: recent progress

open access: yes, 1994
In this paper I present a brief survey of the active area of Special Functions associated with Root Systems. The article is intended for a general mathematical audience. It will not suppose prerequisites on either special functions or root systems. It will also skip many technical details.
