Dynamical aspects of the Na+ - Cl- ion pair association in water

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1992
Molecular dynamics is applied to analyze the association-dissociation process that takes place between contact and solvent-separated ion pairs for aqueous sodium chloride. A flexible single point charge model for water has been assumed. The reactive flux method has been used to compute the forward and backward rate constants.

Cracking Ion Pairs in the electrical double layer of ionic liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Here we investigate a limiting case of the theory for aggregation and gelation in the electrical double layer (EDL) of ionic liquids (ILs). The limiting case investigated only accounts for ion pairs, ignoring the possibility of larger clusters and a ...

Capillary zone electrophoretic studies of ion association between inorganic anions and tetraalkylammonium ions in aqueous-dioxane media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Ion association between inorganic anions and symmetrical tetraalkylammonium ions, R4N+ (R = Me, Et, Pr, n-Bu, n-Am, and 2-methyl butyl {isoamyl = iAm}) was investigated using ordinary silica capillary by capillary zone electrophoresis.

Using Polar Ion-Pairs to Control Drug Delivery to the Airways of the Lungs

open access: yes, 2020
The rapid absorptive clearance of drugs delivered to the airways of the lungs means that many inhaled medicines have a short duration of action. The aim of this study was to investigate whether forming polar ion-pairs can modify drug absorption to slow ...
