Dynamical properties of Watsonia asteroid family
Proceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2014AbstractIn recent years, a rare class of asteroids has been discovered by Cellino et al. (2006), with its distinguishing characteristic being the anomalous polarimetric properties of its members. Named Barbarians, after (234) Barbara, the prototype of the class, these asteroids show negative polarization at unusually high phase-angles compared to ...

Dynamical evolution of the Hungaria asteroids
Icarus, 2010The Hungarias are a stable asteroid group orbiting between Mars and the main asteroid belt, with high inclinations (16–30), low eccentricities (e < 0.18), and a narrow range of semi-major axes (1.78– 2.06 AU). In order to explore the significance of thermally-induced Yarkovsky drift on the population, we conducted three orbital simulations of a 1000 ...

The main features of asteroidal dynamics are demonstrated in Figures 1–4 which show the frequency distributions for perihelion distances, aphelion distances, simimajor axes and inclinations of the numbered asteroids. The large majority of the known asteroids is situated in a belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

Dynamical evolution of Jupiter's Trojan asteroids
Nature, 1997TROJAN asteroids, which may outnumber the asteroids in the asteriod belt, are objects that orbit the Sun with the same mean semi-major axis as Jupiter, but lead or trail the position of Jupiter in its orbit by ˜60°. One very interesting aspect of the Trojan swarms is that a significant number of asteroids are on orbits that analytic theory suggests ...

Dynamical dispersal of primordial asteroid families
Icarus, 2016Abstract Many asteroid families are identified and well characterized all over the main asteroid belt. Interestingly, however, none of them are older than 4 Gyr. Many mechanisms have been proposed to disperse such old primordial asteroid families that presumably have existed, but only very few have really worked. Here we present a plausible mechanism

Statistical Challenges in Asteroid Dynamics
1997Observational data on asteroids, orbits especially, have to be interpreted in terms of origin and evolutionary processes. Cluster of asteroids are part of the puzzle. They are groupings of asteroids in the phase space of proper orbital elements. The lasts are quasi-integrals of motion, stable over very long intervals of time.

Dynamics of Planet-Crossing Asteroids
1999A small, but by no means negligible, fraction of the small bodies of the Solar System is on planet-crossing orbits, including Earth-crossing ones. The dynamics of planet-crossing asteroids/comets is strongly controlled by the occurrence of close approaches.

Dynamics of Distant Moons of Asteroids
Icarus, 1997Abstract We introduce a new analytic method for treating the orbital motions of objects about asteroids and planets. For an asteroid following a circular path around the Sun, we rewrite Jacobi's integral of the motion in terms of the orbital elements relative to the asteroid.
