The Magnetic Signature of Stress in Rocks

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
Abstract Magnetic signatures preserved in rocks have long provided insight into Earth's evolution, revealing processes from plate tectonics to the habitability of Earth. While large impacts are known to impose extreme stresses (>1 GPa) and heat that fundamentally alters magnetic records, lower stresses typical of earthquakes have been considered ...

Disintegration and Skipping Dynamics of Bilobate‐Shaped Meteoroids for Generating Ultra‐Long Strewn Fields

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The longest known Aletai meteorite belt presents a unique phenomenon in meteoroid dynamics. To investigate its formation mechanism, this study introduces a bilobate‐shaped meteoroid model, emphasizing aerodynamic interactions and structure evolution.

Food limitation erodes the thermal tolerance of larvae in an ecologically influential marine herbivore

open access: yesEcology, Volume 107, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Biologists often use organismal thermal tolerance to help explain or forecast responses of populations to climate change. Yet many studies quantify thermal tolerance under isolated laboratory conditions despite extreme events, such as heatwaves, often coinciding with other stressors such as nutrient or food limitation.

The Marco Polo mission: a sample return from a low-albedo Near Earth Object in the ESA Cosmic Vision Program 2015-2025 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Marco Polo is a sample return mission to a Near-Earth Object (NEO) which was originally proposed as a joint European-Japanese mission for the scientific program Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 of the European Space Agency (ESA) in June 2007 and selected for an ...

Dynamic 3D Simulation of Surface Charging on Rotating Asteroids

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The surface-charging phenomenon of asteroids, mainly resulting from solar wind plasma and solar radiation, has been extensively studied. However, the influence of the asteroid’s rotation on surface charging is not yet fully understood.

Revisiting the Numerical Evaluation and Visualization of the Gravity Fields of Asteroid 4769 Castalia Using Polyhedron and Harmonic Expansions Models

open access: yesApplied Sciences
For the convenience of comparison with previous literature, the gravity calculations are revisited for the Asteroid 4769 Castalia, but with extensions on its surface and on intersecting planes and spheres around it, using the polyhedron and harmonic ...

A Change of the Rotation Period of Asteroid (65803) Didymos Caused by the DART Impact

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
On 2022 September 26, the NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft impacted Dimorphos, the secondary component of the binary asteroid (65803) Didymos. This experiment tested the kinetic impactor technology for diverting dangerous asteroids.

An Earth Encounter as the Cause of Chaotic Dynamics in Binary Asteroid (35107) 1991VH

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Among binary asteroids, (35107) 1991VH stands out as unique given the likely chaotic rotation within its secondary component. The source of this excited dynamical state is unknown. In this work, we demonstrate that a past close encounter with Earth could

Radiation Forces and Trajectory of Hayabusa2♯ Target 1998 KY26

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Small near-Earth asteroid 1998 KY _26 has recently become an object of interest because it is the target of the Hayabusa2 ♯ mission and because challenges in fitting its astrometric data have led to classifying it as a dark comet.

Secular dynamics around uniformly rotating asteroids

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2019
The dynamical behaviours of spacecrafts moving around uniformly rotating asteroids are investigated in this work. Based on the generalized inertia integrals of asteroids, the expression of the disturbing potential is derived as a trigonometric series in terms of the mean anomaly, geographical longitude of ascending node and argument of pericentre.
