Managing and mitigating future public health risks: Planetary boundaries, global catastrophic risk, and inclusive wealth

open access: yesRisk Analysis, EarlyView.
Abstract There are two separate conceptualizations for assessing existential risks: Planetary Boundaries (PBs) and global catastrophic risks (GCRs). While these concepts are similar in principle, their underpinning literatures tend not to engage with each other.

Before it's too late: The extinction script, multi‐species reproductive futurism and Extinction Rebellion

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, EarlyView.
Short Abstract The belief that we have to act now to avoid a future lost knowingly to self‐inflicted extinction operates through what I term ‘the extinction script’. As a technology of power that regulates climate futures, the extinction script implores the already threatened subject to act now and to do so urgently.

Delayed‐onset cord1 progressive retinal atrophy in English Springer Spaniels genetically affected with the RPGRIP1 variant

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Cone‐rod dystrophy (cord1) is a form of progressive retinal atrophy. It is linked to an RPGRIP1 genetic variant which is the third most common canine disease variant thus far. While the variant affects various breeds, it is highly prevalent in English Springer Spaniels (ESSs).

The search for primordial quark nuggets among near Earth asteroids [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysics and Space Science, 2008
Primordial Quark Nuggets, remnants of the quark-hadron phase transition, may be hiding most of the baryon number in superdense chunks have been discussed for years always from the theoretical point of view. While they seemed originally fragile at intermediate cosmological temperatures, it became increasingly clear that they may survive due to a variety ...

A Deep Search for Venus Co-orbital Asteroids

open access: yes, 2021
Venus has recently been discovered to share its orbit with a ring of dust. This circumsolar ring of dust was imaged independently by two spacecraft: HELIOS A/B [1] and STEREO A/B [2]. HELIOS was able to estimate the radial and latitudinal extent of the ring by flying through it, while STEREO imaged its structure from 1 AU. Earlier work by Pokorný &

Silicosarcoidosis: Histologic and Clinical Features of an Occupational Granulomatous Disease

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, Volume 68, Issue 6, Page 491-507, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Sarcoidosis is a multisystem inflammatory disease of unknown etiology. Growing evidence indicates that occupational exposure to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) is associated with an increased incidence of sarcoidosis. Yet a diagnosis of sarcoidosis rarely prompts investigation to identify preventable exposures.

Mining and/in outer space: Verticality, analogy, and infrastructural mediation in subarctic Sweden Les mines et/dans l'espace : verticalité, analogie et médiation infrastructurelle dans les régions subarctiques de Suède

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 605-625, June 2025.
Space activities in subarctic Sweden are predicated on older infrastructures of underground resource extraction. The ongoing expansion of the country's rocket launch site outside Kiruna relies on the Swedish state's historical construction of the region as a resource frontier.
