The Hot Limit of Solar-like Oscillations From Kepler Photometry
Kepler short-cadence photometry of 2,347 stars with effective temperatures in the range 6,000–10,000 K was used to search for the presence of solar-like oscillations.

Massive Star Asteroseismology in Action [PDF]
After highlighting the principle and power of asteroseismology for stellar physics, we briefly emphasize some recent progress in this research for various types of stars.

Our understanding of stars has grown significantly due to recent advances in asteroseismology, the stellar analog of helioseismology, the study of the Sun's acoustic wave oscillations. Using ground-based and satellite observatories to measure the frequency spectra of starlight, researchers are able to probe beneath a star's surface and map its interior

PLATO as it is: A legacy mission for Galactic archaeology
Deciphering the assembly history of the Milky Way is a formidable task, which becomes possible only if one can produce high‐resolution chrono‐chemo‐kinematical maps of the Galaxy. Data from large‐scale astrometric and spectroscopic surveys will soon provide us with a well‐defined view of the current chemo‐kinematical structure of the Milky Way, but it ...

Inversions of Stellar Structure From Asteroseismic Data
The advent of space-based photometry missions in the early 21st century enabled the application to asteroseismic data of advanced inference techniques until then restricted to the field of helioseismology.

The Dark Side of Neutron Stars
We review severe constraints on asymmetric bosonic dark matter based on observations of old neutron stars. Under certain conditions, dark matter particles in the form of asymmetric bosonic WIMPs can be effectively trapped onto nearby neutron stars, where they can rapidly thermalize and concentrate in the core of the star.

Asteroseismology and magnetic cycles [PDF]
AbstractSmall cyclic variations in the frequencies of acoustic modes are expected to be a common phenomenon in solar‐like pulsators, as a result of stellar magnetic activity cycles. The frequency variations observed throughout the solar and stellar cycles contain information about structural changes that take place inside the stars as well as about ...

Seismic Cartography of White-Dwarf Interiors From the Toulouse-Montréal Optimal-Design Approach
Probing internal properties of white-dwarf stars has been amongst the earliest objectives of asteroseismology, following the first discovery in the late 1960s of non-radial pulsations in these evolved compact stars.

From Dust Bowl to Dust Bowl: Soils are Still Very Much a Frontier of Science
When the Soil Science Society of America was created, 75 yr ago, the USA was suffering from major dust storms, causing the loss of enormous amounts of topsoil as well as human lives. These catastrophic events reminded public officials that soils are essential to society's well‐being. The Soil Conservation Service was founded and farmers were encouraged

Looking into dark matter with asteroseismology
Dark matter remains as an elusive component of modern Cosmology. According to previous research, stellar physics observables can be affected by the presence of hypothetical dark matter particles, which can be produced or accreted into the stars.
